The Roast Profile & Bean Quality

The Roast Profile & Bean Quality

Roast Profile & Bean Quality

  • This coffee is among the best in the world having received a Q 80 or greater rating as set by the SCAA, Specialty Coffee Association of America. It is tested by an independent laboratory for taste and physical properties.

  • Extraordinarily balanced with low acidity, this coffee has the unique combination of being both specialty rated for quality and taste while being sustainably farmed and directly sourced.

  • Imported directly from a family owned farm that implements bio-dynamic farming, this method integrates the highest level of sustainability for the land and humanitarian practices for labor.

  • The cupping notes for this coffee are "subtle flavors of floral, herbal and sweet nutty attributes. The finish is smooth and clean". Our dark roast is full bodied, but never burnt or bitter.

Whole Bean or Ground?

Whole Bean or Ground?

Our coffee can be used for both drip and espresso

  • Choco Sombra has perfected its ground coffee to work for both espresso and drip coffee makers.  It will also work with other brewing methods.

  • Whole bean coffee is the choice for discerning coffee drinkers as taste is optimal when it is freshly ground. When purchasing whole beans, keep in mind that a coffee grinder is required.

  • A note about espresso coffee: espresso begins with the same green beans (unroasted coffee) as regular drip coffee.  It becomes suitable for espresso depending on how it is roasted and the size of the grinds. Our roast makes an exceptional cup of coffee regardless of the brewing method used.
